Lois' Whole Life Coaching
“The line between personal and professional is invisible. What shows up in one’s personal life impacts one’s professional life and visa versa”.
– Lois Barth, Life, Career and Relationship Coach
What is Whole Life Coaching?
I find it essential to address my client’s goals in a comprehensive and holistic manner. I have my clients fill out a thorough questionnaire that encompasses everything from learning styles, current lifestyle choices, most productive times, along with honing in on their top goals. This allows us to hit the ground running. By taking this approach, together we glean the throughlines in one’s life and from there jumpstart the process which leads to greater success.
Here are some of the benefits my clients have received from working with me:
- Greater follow through on personal and professional goals.
- Improved Self-Esteem and Self-Confidence
- Powerfully address negative self-talk and negative people.
- Build productive and healthy habits that lead to greater results.
- The ability to set boundaries and navigate difficult conversations and people.
- Greater energy and vitality, along with weight loss and financial goals.
- Proactively take actions that move you towards your goals.
- Address overwhelm and self-sabotage.
- Greater confidence in communication and relationships
- Confidence to take risks, stretch yourself, and move towards a life that holds more meaning for you.
Move From Criticism to Curiosity
From being the life coach for three national makeover campaigns (SELF, FITNESS and FITBLOG) which to date, three million people registered for, and from coaching close to a thousand people, I’ve learned that when we replace criticism of self with curiosity and compassion, our lives open up in the most extraordinary ways. Rather than beating yourself up by constantly haranguing yourself with “Look what I did! I’m such a blah blah blah,” I help my clients shift their perspective to “What did I learn? How can I grow from what I learned? How can I treat myself with greater kindness, generosity and patience?” And across the board, when they make that shift, that’s when their lives open up.
What is the Difference between Life Coaching and Therapy?
Fifteen years later, this is one of the most frequently asked questions I am asked most…and is important to understand.
To understand this, let’s use the analogy of looking at your life as a garden. You’re ready to make some changes in your “garden,” aka life. You may or may not know what your goals are, but you need support. More likely or not, when you go into therapy, the focus will be on the “rocks, worms and the weeds;” issues like what’s stopping you? What obstacles are getting in the way? All great questions and important to know. Self-awareness is a vital step, but understanding what’s stopping us rarely, if ever, leads to change.
When you work with a life coach, rather than the “rocks, worms and weeds,” being the focus, we explore what “flowers, plants and trees” do you want to see in your garden. We work together to help clarify your vision, goals, interests, values, and passions and look at aligning your beliefs with your behaviors. Will there be stumbling blocks along the way? Of course! But the focus is moving forward toward your personal and professional goals.
Most therapy work is “What’s Wrong?” while coaching is “What’s Next?”

“I worked weekly with Lois for three months, and it is not an exaggeration to say it was life changing. (hyper link to testimonial page). I sought a life coach to help me develop resiliency, set boundaries, and discover ways I was holding myself back. Lois helped me stretch and grow and consider longer-term goals, like what I wanted my life to look like in the future. She describes her coaching as “behavioral wellness meets professional development.” That perfectly captures her unique approach as coach, cheerleader, counselor, and mentor. She observes and points out behaviors, how they serve or don’t serve you, and then guides you to different, more healthy options. In helping you understand your actions and why you behave as you do, she is both encouraging and challenging, knowing you must be willing to be uncomfortable in order to change. As a result, you grow personally, which inevitably leads you do develop professionally. After completing an extensive questionnaire, we spent a significant among of time reviewing what was shared and where to focus. She has a real gift for getting to the heart of the matter, and the work she has you do is manageable and effective. I was concerned it would take a lot of time and effort, and it certainly required commitment and investment. Yet, much of it was small daily work that paid huge dividends. My colleagues remarked on the change they saw in me, as did others. I am less stressed and more present, as well as more self-aware. In our calls, as I shared observations, improvements, and struggles, Lois was able to make connections and distill key points. I felt she really understood me and could pinpoint issues and areas quickly and create a path forward. I learned how to care for myself and set boundaries, which made me more resilient when change occurred or challenges arose. I also learned to ask the right questions of myself and evaluate situations to help me care for myself and be clear with others about what I could and could not do. These skills are serving me well during the pandemic. It is still a challenge, but I have no doubt that I would be struggling greatly had we not done the work we did. I am able to face this time with gratitude, strength, and hope. Investing in yourself is important, and I highly recommend Lois for any personal growth you may be seeking to accomplish.”
